CROSSWINDS S.T.O.L.
TOTAL CONCEPT WING TIPS

The Crosswinds S.T.O.L. Total Concept Wing Tips were designed long after the age old argument that wing tips either increase performance or they don't. At Crosswinds we have designed a wing tip that does affect the performance of the following aircraft. The Piper PA-12, PA-14, PA-18 (All Models), PA-20 & PA-22. First off, when we talk about performance we are not just talking slower stall speeds or shorter takeoff rolls. Performance at Crosswinds is about safety, controlling an aircraft at slow speeds when approaching or near stall,  increasing the angle of climb to clear obstacles with out compromising safety and improving cruise speed and effiecency

The Total Concept Wing Tips improve performance using several concepts. First, these wing tips do not droop and have no affect on visibility on the high wing aircraft mentioned above. Second, these wing tips add a large amount of wing area that maintains the same USA 35B MOD airfoil on the top of the wing adding far more lifting surface. Third, this wing tip design helps control wing tip vortices created by induced drag at high angles of attack by channeling air downward and outward toward the trailing edge of the wing. Fourth, the tip uses a wing tip fence that functions like a winglet to reduce vortex disturbance that is responsible for aileron blanketing as disrupted air boils over onto the top of the wing. Reducing this blanketing affect causes the aileron effectiveness to be improved throughout the flight envelope.

The Total Concept Wing Tip is constructed of light weight aluminum, and fiberglass. Minimal fabrication and parts are required.Tips come assembled and are designed to use the original Navigation lights.
